Lewes Castle Opening
On the 3rd November 2009, the HLF funded Project @ Lewes Castle was unveiled at a grand opening by HRH the Duke of Kent. Graffiti Design worked with David McCabe Design to produce all the external Interpretation and Graphics panels these included stand alone lecterns with graphic interpretation of the History of the surrounding area.
The panels come with a 10 year Guarantee and are resistant to the elements and vandalism.
Graffiti Design also designed, manufactured and installed internal graphic displays for the Visitor Centre and the Museum Display for the Castle’s Barbican
museum. There were a variety of materials and techniques used from wooden interpretation panels through to interactive displays, we also worked with model makers to provide a comprehensive interpretation of the Castle and it’s historic features.
The client was very happy with the finished product and said:
“Graffiti Design has carried out the design and manufacture of a series of stunning graphic panels for the Heritage Lottery Funded re-interpretation of Lewes Castle and adjacent Barbican House Museum. The mixture of colourful historic prints and arresting text make the graphic panels not only highly informative, but also things of real craftsmanship and indeed beauty, in their own right. Graffiti Design provided a very responsive and professional service to ourselves, and was ever attentive to our wishes and whims as clients. They come with our recommendation and endorsement”. John Manley, CEO, Sussex Past.
The success of the project has enhanced Graffiti Design’s reputation in the Museum & Heritage sector and there has been plenty of interest from designers, architects, museums, heritage sites and tourist attractions who have similar projects.
